I really like this idea of building countersystems. I would note that as an agroecologist, I'm familiar with how dynamic & adaptive those alternative systems need to be. In farming the only way to work collaboratively with the overwhelming force of natural systems, especially as they face unprecedented disruptions in the form of climate change, is to build system architecture that dances with the latter. One might argue that industrial agriculture represents a counter system to natural systems, but its very rigidity is what dooms it
