I have been meaning to do this for a decade: first I was too busy with work, then I had health issues, now is a good time but I have nowhere to practice. A firearm in the hands of someone who doesn’t know how to use it well is a liability. I haven’t given up on a solution…
I agree with most, perhaps all, of this article. I would like to note that under nationalizing american companies in Canada…Imperial Oil is Esso is Exxon-Mobil. Alberta is the logical risk for partial invasion given how much Danielle and her people lap up Trumpian attention. Sarnia Ont also has a significant border refinery owned by Imperial Oil/Esso/Exxon-Mobil.
A feel-good optimistic piece. I wish some of this were possible, but I don't see the Canadian government actually doing anything to preserve its own sovereignty. Much of the actual work has been done by individual citizens, and even there I know far too many Canadians who are planning to head to Florida for their March Break.
Missing from the tech companies was of course Apple, which along with Sony (HQ in Japan, but still subservient to US laws) were the largest pushes for the poly-laundering of the anti-circumvention legislation through WIPO and imposing on Canada. The costs to Canada of this anti-competative measure to lock customers into specific technology vendors is visible to anyone who actually understands how the technology works. Unfortunately there will be push-back from alleged "Authors" groups and "unions" in this space who have continued to side with technology vendors against their own interests.
I think those still trying to go south for the march break are in for an unpleasant visit unless they intend to walk around in maga hats. We have friends who have had a condo there for 20 years and spend winter there. They just came back and said they’re going to rent it out and take an indefinite break because the atmosphere is toxic toward Canadians. They were saying people they’d known for years were baiting them into arguments about annexing Canada along the lines of ‘it’d be easier if you give up now’ ‘Canada isn’t a real country’ ‘Canada can’t survive without the US’….bullshit like that.
I have a friend who is there right now!😳 I think there are some people here who are tuned right out to the reality of the situation. I will have a talk with her about the election vote when she gets back…
I love this! We need sovereignty, we need to stop paying rents to a country that clearly has forgotten all the lessons of history and wisdom. We need to build ourselves up and become a beacon to the world.
Establish local militias? What do you think Canada’s reservists are? Hell, they’re even *called* the militia. I served in the reserves for four years, which included training in aid to civil powers in the event of a natural disaster, and I also got to know the logging roads around Pemberton, Harrison Lake, and central Vancouver Island fairly intimately.
This 2%of GDP target spending should be used to invest in our youth. Make it mandatory for at least the youth but voluntary for those that are older, unemployed, etc to serve six months to one year of military training. Those with jobs can do it on weekends or short stints. This will result in millions of Canadians ready for combat roles. In addition, all the money will be spent on Canadians.
Some of that money should also be spend on developing weapons technology in house for military use. We cannot rely on American manufactured weapons. This investment will have spillover effects in advanced manufacturing.
We need to close the productivity gap with USA. One of the reasons is that we don’t have enough medium to large size businesses. We need to provide support to small businesses to grow into medium size businesses and medium businesses to grow into large ones.
We need population growth and ensure that our country gets younger. Incentivize and prioritize birth rates through bold policy shifts and funding.
Separate budget expenditures through capital expenditures and operating expenditures. Investment in children should be considered a capital expenditure. We need to cut waste but encourage capital spending to grow into a much stronger, resilient and bigger country. We have been blessed with everything we need to launch a greatest decade that will either define us or we will be observed if we don’t act strongly and decisively.
Donald Trump’s plan to impose tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China could force American consumers to pay an average of $1,200 more per year, a prominent economic thinktank warns.
An analysis from the Peterson Institute for International Economics found that the tariffs would prompt retaliation from foreign governments, harming economic growth and leading to higher import costs that would be passed on to American households.
One last item: Possession and Acquisition License. When all else fails, resist.
Firearms safety training benefits everyone 👍

Excellent point! Thank you.

Some bold, innovative measures!

Share this with Charlie Angus or someone from the correct government 🤗
Should, would, could. Great ideas but who will carry this out?
