We need to do something about this situation, Jesse. Men are hard wired to provide and protect. But the algorithms are winning and guiding these young people in ways that are contributing to a sense of isolation and helplessness and detracting these young people from the role they are ancestrally hardwired to play. We need to do something to lower the rents and the cost of living. If we do nothing we are going to have a generation of young people who can not even afford to have children. How sad is it that a young person can not even hope to have a family because they know that no matter how hard they work and save they can not provide a roof for a spouse and children? The housing market is stacked against these young people. Can we get everyone with a stake in the housing market in a room to figure this out? Like the real estate sector, the developers, the construction companies, the apprentices, the supply chain representatives, the government, the banking sector, the homeless? Surely we can find a way forward on this file if we really work together. Those of us who have a home need to check our sense of ownership at the door and be willing to take a modest write down on any real estate we have so this correction can occur. What young man can afford an $ 900 K home? There is a 4 acre vacant lot on my concession for sale for $ 165K. What young person can afford that?
